According to fan site The One Ring, the first season of Amazon’s highly-anticipated Lord Of The Rings show will follow a younger version of Viggo Mortensen’s Aragorn. The site also revealed that the show will not re-visit stories that have already been told, instead choosing to tell unique and fresh tales.
You might have realised that the reveal only mentioned the first season, which comes as a surprise since Amazon has five seasons of the show planned. Could this possibly mean that each season will tell a different story? It would certainly be exciting to explore different times in Middle Earth’s history, such as the first age. We know that Tolkien had mapped out a lot of detail about the world in his appendices so it wouldn’t be a massive surprise to see the show explore different corners and eras of Middle Earth.
It’s important to note that as of now, this is just a rumour. Amazon has made no official announcement, and since the show is still in the early stages of development, we probably won’t have official confirmation for a while. With that said, however, The one Ring has proven to be a reliable source in the past, and it’s exciting to think about possible stories an Aragorn prequel could tell.
