New ‘Captain Marvel’ Details And Synopsis Revealed

Marvel Studios just revealed the full cast list for Captain Marvel, which includes a few familiar names.

Marvel Studios has announced the start of production on the upcoming Captain Marvel with a press release that reveals some awesome new details about the film, including the addition of a few familiar faces.

The announcement officially revealed that Clark Gregg will reprise his role as Agent Phil Coulson in Captain Marvel. Coulson hasn’t appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe  (AoS not included) since he “died” in The Avengers, but the 90’s setting of Captain Marvel gives the character an exciting opportunity to return.

It has also been revealed that Lee Pace will return as Ronan the Accuser, who first appeared as the primary villain in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. In Marvel Comics, Carol Danvers’ powers originate from the Kree, which is the same race that Ronan so wickedly fights for. Perhaps we’ll get more development for one of Marvel’s most disappointing villains. Djimon Hounsou will also return as Ronan’s henchman Korath the Pursuer.

You can check out the full cast list below:

The film stars Academy Award winner Brie Larson (“Room,” “Kong: Skull Island”), Samuel L. Jackson (Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “The Hateful Eight”), Ben Mendelsohn (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” “Ready Player One”), Djimon Hounsou (“Blood Diamond,” Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy”), Lee Pace (“The Book of Henry,” Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy”), Lashana Lynch (“Brotherhood,” “Fast Girls”), Gemma Chan (“Humans,” “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”), Algenis Perez Soto (“Sambá,” “Sugar”), Rune Temte (“Eddie The Eagle,” “The Last Kingdom”), McKenna Grace (“I, Tonya,” “Gifted”), with Clark Gregg (“Live by Night,” “Marvel’s The Avengers”), and Jude Law (“Spy,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel”).

Marvel Studios has also released the first synopsis for Captain Marvel, which you can read below:

The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
