Believe it or not, the first Thor movie landed in theatres seven years ago, and while that might not seem like a long time, it certainly doesn’t feel like we’ve spent that many years with Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder.
The Australian Actor recently finished filming the fourth Avengers film, simultaneously completing his Marvel contract. The future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently unclear and while Thor might not even be alive for Phase Fout, we might see the “Strongest Avenger” return in Marvel’s Phase Four. In a recent interview with IGN, Hemsworth discussed his experience making Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War, revealing that the films have renewed his excitement for the character.
See what Hemsworth said below:
“I’ve just, literally two days ago, finished Avengers 4 and that’s my contract – my preexisting contract is done now, so it’s kind of like, ‘Wow, that’s it.’ Two or three films ago I was like, ‘Okay, a couple more.’ I was enjoying it, but I was like… I felt a little restricted. And after this last experience with Taika, and actually these last two Avengers, I feel like we’ve reinvented the character a number of times – even in these next two, he evolves again, and you don’t get that opportunity often in a franchise. So I definitely feel a renewed sense of excitement and enthusiasm, and more so than ever, I think. If I had the opportunity to do it again, I think I’d love to. I also think there’s an appetite for it now, or there’s a far greater range of possibilities of where he can go now, what he can do, just because we’ve kind of broken the mould a bit.”
While Marvel seems to only give its solo characters a trilogy, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them green light another Thor movie, with Hemsworth and Waititi returning. Put plain and simple, Thor: Ragnarok became Marvel’s best reviewed movie ever and found massive box-office success.
