It looks like the Dark Phoenix storyline is too big for just one movie! In a new interview with Collider, Olivia Munn, who plays the mutant Psylocke, revealed that X-Men: Dark Phoenix will a two-parter, meaning the first film will likely end with a cliffhanger.
I don’t know what I’m supposed to say. I’m supposed to be vague. That’s my answer. I’m horrible at that. It’s like a two-parter, this movie. That’s more than I’ve said, in general. I don’t know why people have to be so secretive.
After the mostly disappointing X-Men: Apocalypse, fans are hoping the next instalment of the X-Men series will set the franchise back on track. Directed by long-time producer/writer Simon Kinberg, X-Men: Dark Phoenix will continue to story of Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Xavier (James McAvoy), and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence). The film will also re-introduce fans to the younger versions of Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), and Storm (Alexandra Shipp). The film will obviously follow the Dark Phoenix storyline, which is one of Marvel Comics’ most famous narratives, as it tells the story of Jean Grey’s evolution into her extremely powerful and villainous alter-ego, The Dark Pheonix.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix will land in theatres in 2018 and stars Sophie Turner, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Tye Sheridan, Jessica Chastain, Evan Peters, Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Olivia Munn.
