David F. Sandberg will change his usual style with the upcoming Shazam! movie. While speaking to the Toronto Sun, Sandberg recently discussed his work on the DC Comics movie and revealed some interesting new details. According to the director, Shazam! will be a “fun” and “lighthearted” entry in the DC Extended Universe, which is something a lot of critics have been waiting for.
See what Sandberg said below:
“The big attraction for me with that character is the fact that every kid dreams of being Superman, right? I mean I certainly did, and (Billy Batson) is a kid that gets that chance. He gets to become the superhero. So it’ll be Big with superpowers in a way. In terms of what people can expect, I think this will be one of the more fun or lighthearted movies so far in the DC universe. It certainly will be a departure.”
Shazam! will be the next instalment of the DC Extended Universe after James Wan’s solo Aquaman movie. While the project is set to begin shooting for a 2019 release date, no actor has been announced.
