While it might feel like every Marvel hero already has a solo movie, there are still a few that have been left out. Characters like Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Scarlet Witch probably won’t be given a solo film, but that’s still a possibility in the future. Unfortunately, the same thing can’t be said about Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. While appearing at Disney’s D23 Expo, Ruffalo revealed that he will never star in a solo Hulk movie and it’s Universal’s fault.

“I want to make one thing perfectly clear today,” Ruffalo said. “A stand-alone Hulk movie will never happen because Universal has the rights to the standalone Hulk movie and, for some reason, they don’t know how to play well with Marvel. And clearly, they don’t like money. But I feel like I have two or three years before I’m too old to play the Hulk.” He continued. “We’ve talked about it and I just don’t see it in the cards.”
It seems like Universal is unwilling to make a deal with Marvel, similar to the one that allows Marvel Studios to use Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s a shame because Ruffalo is one of the best actors currently portraying a Marvel character and he would be amazing in a solo Hulk movie.
