I guess I’m not the only one that’s always wanted to escape into a better world. Entertainment Weekly just revealed the first look at Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Ernest Cline’s Ready Player One. Honestly, I’ve not read the book but after a brief look online, the story sounds pretty impressive. Ready Player One is already one of the most talked about films and Warner Bros. is expected to reveal the first teaser at San Diego Comic-Con next weekend.
The image (below) features a first look at Watts wearing his VR gloves and visor. The film isn’t scheduled for release until 2018, but it’s never too early to hype a Speilberg project.

In the year 2044, the world has been gripped by an energy crisis from the depletion of fossil fuels and the consequences of global warming, causing widespread social problems and economic stagnation. To escape the decline their world is facing, people turn to the OASIS, a virtual reality simulator accessible by players using visors and haptic technology such as gloves. The story follows the adventures of Wade Watts, starting about five years after the announcement when he discovers one of the three keys pointing to a treasure.
