Finally, a video game adaptation that might actually be pretty good! When I first heard that a new Tomb Raider film was in the works I wasn’t exactly thrilled. While the concept is impressive, the game series has proven difficult to adapt for the big screen, but then Alicia Vikander joined the project. This is an actor that has more than a few Oscar-worthy performances, and more than anything it’s Vikander’s performance that has me excited for the Tomb Raider reboot.
Now that I’ve finished my little rant, let’s get to the news. Entertainment Weekly has revealed a new look at Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft. The image shows the iconic character hanging from a mountain, in a visually similar state as Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible 2.
EW has also released a new interview with Vikander, who explains why this version of Lara Croft is similar, but also very different to the ones that have come before.
“She has all the fierce, tough, curious, intelligent traits,” Vikander says, “but we’ve stripped away all of her experience. She hasn’t gone on an adventure just yet. She thought he was a stuck up businessperson living in the modern youth culture of suburban London, but then this whole box of information. This is the beginning.”
