Warning: This Post Contains Major Spoilers For Spider-Man: Homecoming!

So, if you’re reading this post I’m gonna safely assume that you have seen Spider-Man: Homecoming and also picked up on the clever Miles Morales tease/easter egg in the movie. That’s right, the latest Spider-Man movie delivers a throwaway line that reveals the existence of Miles Morales in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Spider-Man: Homecoming introduces the audience to Donald Glover as Aaron Davis, better known to comic book fans as The Prowler. In Spider-Man lore, The Prowler is not only a criminal but is also the uncle of Spider-Man 2.0, Miles Morales. In the movie, The Prowler mentions that he has a nephew that he wants to protect, seemingly acknowledging the existence of Miles Morales somewhere in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

For anyone that might not know, Miles Morales adopted the Spider-Man identity when Peter Parker died in Marvel Comics. The character has become a fan-favourite and will star in an animated movie later this year, but will we ever see Miles Morales in a live-action Spider-Man film? I would say that we probably will…eventually. Marvel Studios is well known for planning the future of every character, so it wouldn’t surprise me if that Kevin Feige already has plans to bring Miles Morales into the MCU and introduce him as Spider-Man. Just for the sake of speculation, would it really be surprising for Marvel to kill Peter Parker and replace him with Miles Morales after a few more Spider-Man movies? Personally, I think this could happen and it would be a great twist for the franchise, but it isn’t something I’m overly interested in seeing. Peter Parker has always been my favourite Spider-Man, and I would much rather see Tom Holland portray this character for a long, long time. Just think how amazing it would be for an audience to grow up with this version of Spider-Man and see Peter Parker leave school, go to college and eventually enter adulthood. If you think about it, Marvel has never had this opportunity with any of its characters and it would be a wasted chance if they killed Tom Holland’s version of the character and introduced Miles Morales.

Obviously, nothing is set in stone, and this is just speculation but what do you think? Could we see Miles Morales as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Let me know in the comments section below!
