With the release of Wonder Woman and the hiring of Matt Reeves for The Batman, the DC Extended Universe seems to have found its feet, and if this rumour is to be believed, Warner Bros. is looking to make some creative decision regarding the Green Lantern Corps. According to The Hashtag Show, Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt is in talks with Warner Bros. to direct the Green Lantern Corps movie.
Green Lantern Corps is scheduled for release in 2020, and the film is expected to introduce both Hal Jordan and John Stewart as the leads. According to the report, Warner Bros. hasn’t started casting but want someone aged between 39 to 50 for Hal Jordan and 21 to 30 for John Stewart. The film is described as “Lethal Weapon in space” and will feature Hal Jordan teaching John Stewart how to become the protector of Earth.
Rupert Wyatt directed the massively popular Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which was not only a critical and financial success but also rebooted one of Hollywood’s most popular franchises for a modern audience. Wyatt was also hired to direct the Gambit movie for 20th Century Fox but dropped out in 2015.
