Matt Reeves Discusses His Plans For ‘The Batman’

While promoting War For The Planet Of The Apes, Director Matt Reeves briefly discusses his approach to The Batman starring Ben Affleck.

It’s been a few months since Warner Bros. announced Matt Reeves as the new director for The Batman and we haven’t heard any developments, which is to be expected as Reeves still hasn’t completed his contract for War For The Planet Of The Apes. The third Apes movie will be released in the next few weeks and Reeves will finally be able to start his work on The Batman, meaning we might get an update at San Diego Comic-Con 2017.

While promoting War For The Planet Of The ApesReeves briefly discussed his plans for The Batman. Obviously, the director couldn’t give away any details but revealed that he will deliver a more personal approach to the character.

See what Reeves said below:

“Look, I’m just starting Batman because literally, [War for the Planet of the Apes], as I just said, we finished about a week ago and now we’re publicising it. So, we haven’t even begun on Batman. For me, what’s always important is to try and find a personal way in. In that way, I do feel like I relate to actors. It’s about understanding emotionally, the way something is. I see this parallel between Caesar and Batman, really, which is this idea of these characters who are grappling with their own struggle and trying to do the right thing in an imperfect world and, so, I do really relate it to that kind of idea.”

With the Planet Of The Apes franchise, Reeves has proven that he is one of the most talented directors working in Hollywood. I’m hearing some really awesome reactions to War For The Planet Of The Apes, and I can’t wait to see what Reeves is able to create with Ben Affleck’s Batman.
