According to Deadline, 20th Century Fox has finalised the details for X-Men: Dark Pheonix and has officially hired Simon Kinberg to helm the project. Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Jennifer Lawrence will return for the sequel alongside Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.
Kinberg has been attached to the X-Men movies since X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006 and has been a major influence on the franchise from behind the scenes. X-Men: Dark Pheonix will be Kinberg’s first time directing but he understands these characters and storylines so well that I’m confident he can create a compelling story and an enjoyable film.
The report also claims that Jessica Chastain is in talks to join the project as the main villain, Shi’ar Empress Lilandra.
