It looks like Disney is eyeing Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes (American Beauty) to command the live-action remake of Pinocchio. According to Deadline, Mendes is in early talks with Disney to direct the Pinoccchio movie, which already has a script from Chris Weitz. Pinocchio will be just another classic Disney tale to be made into a live-action adventure. Alongside Pinicchio, the house of mouse is also developing Niki Caro‘s Mulan, Tim Burton‘s Dumbo, Jon Favreau’s The Lion King and Guy Ritchie‘s Aladdin. The studio recently found success with live-action remakes as The Jungle Book grossed $966.5M worldwide and Beauty & The Beast has made a whopping $1.2 billion worldwide.
Mendes is known for his Oscar-winning movie American Beauty, and also his involvement in the James Bond franchise. Mendes directed the two latest 007 movies Skyfall and Spectre. This is just early talks and no official deal has been made. Follow Nerd-Feed for more updates.
