Fans have been waiting for Black Adam for years and although the film has taken so long to find its way to the big screen, Dwayne Johnson is making sure that we remember the Shazam! and Black Adam movies are still happening. Johnson recently sat down with We Got This Covered to promote Baywatch, and briefly discussed why Black Adam what he found so appealing about the character.

“I love the idea that is backstory is that he starts off as a slave. I feel like when somebody is oppressed that way but has a bigger ambition and a greater belief than the oppression that’s holding him down – that’s a powerful place to be. [His] family getting killed, coming back from that; There’s a lot of elements about Black Adam that have attracted me for a very, very, very, very, very long time. I’m excited about it, man. You know, and Black Adam has been with me probably going ten years that Black Adam is in our zone. And [there’s] the great meetings we’ve been having with Geoff Johns and the guys over at DC, Warner Bros, New Line.”

Johnson then went on to give his own fan casting of Shazam and while he didn’t give away the name, he simply said The Lone Ranger. Obviously, Johnson is saying that he would be interested in seeing Armie Hammer in the role but makes it clear that no decisions have been made and they haven’t even contacted Hammer about Shazam. It’s interesting to hear Johnson say Armie Hammer in this situation. A few months ago the actor was seemingly teasing DC Comics fans about an upcoming role but stated it was just for fun. Fans seem to want him for the Green Lantern Corps movie but maybe we’ll see Armie Hammer step over to the Shazam! movie.
