While promoting the upcoming Baywatch movie, Dwayne Johnson briefly discussed his upcoming role in the DC Extended Universe as Black Adam. We learned a few months back that Black Adam will be getting a solo movie within the DCEU before appearing in the standalone Shazam! movie, but now it looks like the character might be introduced in another upcoming DC Comics film.

Johnson first discussed the process of bringing Black Adam to the big screen and teased a “really cool” introduction for the character:

It’s definitely going to happen, sure. We’ve had great conversations with Geoff Johns and everyone over at DC. It’s an exciting time right now for everyone at DC because they are in a process now where they are building out [their DC universe] really nicely. We have a really cool surprise for Black Adam that I can’t reveal, in terms of where we will see Black Adam being introduced.

The interviewer then asked if Black Adam will be “laying the smackdown” on Superman (Henry Cavill) and Johnson’s response was quite surprising:

One fine day. That’s coming. That’s in the cards.

Fans have wondered if Black Adam and Superman will go head-to-head since Johnson posted a photo with Henry Cavill last year. It’s interesting to see that Johnson is allowed to tease this confrontation but also exciting to think about what this fight will look like and when we might see it happen. Black Adam is a character that gets his power from some form of magic, so he can actually do a lot of damage to Superman, who is vulnerable to magic.

There is one thing we know for certain, Johnson is 100% committed to the role and seems extremely excited to get started and mix in with these great DC Comics characters.
